On January 10, 2025, the Dachau Lions Club emphasized the importance of helping others, especially children with cancer, at its New Year’s reception. One of the projects presented was support for the Cura Placida Foundation. Prof. Dr Prof. Dr. Stefan Burdach, co-founder and board member of the foundation, was invited as a guest of honor.
In a moving speech, Professor Burdach described the particular challenges of childhood cancer. He emphasized how different childhood cancer is from oncology in adults and how important targeted research and the importance of private charity involvement in developing child-friendly, more respectful therapies. His presentation covered a range of medical breakthroughs to which Cura Placida was able to contribute to personal outcomes that illustrate the great need for medical and human action.
The Cura Placida Foundation promotes research collaborations for the discovery of so-called “driver genes” and innovative approaches such as CAR-T cell therapy. Its goal: a future in which children no longer have to be treated with chemotherapy, amputations or radiation.
Cura Placida would like to thank the Lions Club Dachau for the invitation, the trust and the willingness to share the common goal: No child should die of cancer.
