In December 2024, the Cura Placida – Foundation for Children with Cancer was invited to the Bavarian State Parliament for talks with members of parliament Dr. Ute Eiling-Hütig and Bernhard Seidenath. The meeting focused on joint ideas for increasing public awareness and support for the foundation’s work.

Among other things, the possibility of a charity event on Lake Starnberg with high-ranking political participation and the introduction of a Bavarian Medal of Merit, named after an outstanding personality in medical science in Bavaria, were discussed. This is to be awarded in future to particularly committed sponsors – especially in the area of research grants awarded by Cura Placida.

The foundation was delighted with the competent and empathetic response to its concern to promote the development of gentle and individualized cancer therapies for children. The President of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Markus Schwaiger, has since been informed of the planned medal award project and supports the initiative.

Prof. Dr. Stefan Burdach, Chairman of the Board of Governors, thanked the discussion partners for their constructive interest and political commitment to children with cancer.
