On April 24, 2024, a special benefit evening for the Cura Placida Foundation was
held at Höhenried Castle near Bernried under the direction of Cura Placida Foundation Board Member Prof. Dr. Carl-Peter Bauer. The goal of the event was to raise funds for the development of better-tolerated cancer treatments for children, the foundation’s central mission.
The evening focused on writer Thomas Mann, who wrote key chapters of his novel “The Magic Mountain” during his time in his “Villino” in Feldafing. Gernot Abend, who has rendered outstanding services to the rediscovery of this historically significant place, gave the audience an impressive insight into Mann’s work and influence.
Afterwards, IKH Dr. Tatiana Princess of Bavaria, Dr. Yvonne Princess of Croy and Prof. Dr. Stefan Burdach presented the Cura Placida Children’s Cancer Research Foundation. They explained how the foundation promotes targeted, individualized cancer therapies for children – with the aim of enabling more effective and at the same time gentler and more respectful forms of treatment.
The event was combined with a fundraising campaign, the proceeds of which directly benefit the foundation’s work. Special thanks go to Robert Zucker, Managing Director of the Höhenried Medical Center of the Deutsche Rentenversicherung Bayern Süd, who made the evening possible.
